Hey guys, this was a very interesting week! I want to start off by saying that I love my mission. And that I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have to be here and serve the people of Belize. Its not easy. But I love it. The people here need help, the church is really new in Belize.
Monday was a cool day, we went to play VB with another zone in Cayo. Then after we actually got invited to go and eat dinner with a family! WHooo! They are from the states and invited us over for a dinner and we ate meatball subs and watermelon. It was literally the best meal I have had since I have come here to Belize. I was so excited to eat there! Here in Belize I have gotten fed a meal by members 2 times. So that was a treat. Also it was cool to talk to some grown ups from the states. Like they are a cool married couple who love eachother and are more of my culture and it was refreshing for me. Because here hardly anyone is married, and in my whole area their is only 1 family where all of the people are members and they arent sealed in the temple yet and the dad is less active because of his work. So one thing that I have really learned and seen that I want is a home centered on Christ. Why? Because only through his atonement we can be happy and recieve salvation.
This week I talked to some people that have addictions, and I learned even more just how destructive addictions are. Satan wants us to break the commandments like the law of chastity and the word of wisdom so that we are unhappy. God wants us to keep the commandments so that we are HAPPY. It really is that simple.
Also an experience to share. So this week a guy came to an activity we have in the church every friday night. So he came and loved it but was addicted to drinking. When he left the activity I shook his hand and handed him a bible, and during the activity I taught a lesson about the plan of salvation. The very next day he drowned in the river. So he is now in the spirit world learning about the things I helped to teach him the day before he passed away. Maybe I was supposed to find him, who knows.
I love all of you so much, especially my family I love you all so very much. Thanks for all of your love and support. Belize is a crazy place and my mission is humbling me a ton. Before my mission I didnt understand how much I had, not really at all. Here people dont have hardly anything. They live day to day, the money they make for working 1 day supports them that day then they have to work the next day to be able to eat the next day. No one here has air conditioning or a really clean house or nice windows and furniture. Alot of people here built their houses themselves. And they still will share with you the things they do have. I never knew that people lived like this until I got here to my mission. We are literally so blessed.
I love this gospel with all of my heart and know without a doubt that its true. And even more I know that my Savior lives and that God sent Him here to die for us so that we can return to live with Him again someday. God has blessings for each and every one of us that we can not even imagine, and I am so happy that I have the oppurtunity to give people the chance to recieve these blessings here in Belize.
Have a great week!
