Hola Familia y Amigos!
This week has been awesome! I am learning so much and honestly am working so hard here. So here is what has happened so far this week. A little over a week ago I was assigned another companion, Elder Williams, so now I am in a trio companionship. He is awesome. And this Sunday my companions and I got assigned to be the zone leaders, so that's cool! Their are 3 soon to be 4 districts in my zone, our district has 7 elders, next district 6 elders 4 sisters, next district 10 elders, then next Wednesday another district of 3 sisters and 4 elders come in so I will be going with my companions to talk to them next Wednesday night after they get settled in.
Also next week my district gets to have the opportunity of hosting the new missionaries! I cant wait! This basically means that when missionaries get dropped, I am the first person they see and I help them take their bags to the residence and everything like that. So that will be a really great experience to have. It rained yesterday and that was really cool. I honestly feel the spirit so much here it is unreal. And their were a couple instances I can specifically think of where I would be teaching a lesson in Spanish and just feel the spirit and feel the language coming naturally and it was really rewarding. Dallin H. Oaks daughter came and gave a devotional for us this past week, she is awesome and really good at playing the violin. It was cool because it was a different kind of devotional, she with her children performed 4 or so different songs for us and it really brought the spirit.
The food isnt that great, I am over it haha. I love the MTC but am really excited to go and get out into the field and start doing the Lords work there. I have worked so hard here to learn the doctrine of Christ better and to learn Spanish and now I really really really want to get out into the field. I am so excited! This church and this gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, is true. I know it is true. Seeing hundreds of other missionaries here and knowing in less than 2 weeks I will be out serving the people of El Salvador magnifies this testimony I have even more. I know its true. I know that this is where I am suppose to be, and even though it is hard it will bless my life, the lives of my family and those I love back at home, and especially the people I am teaching the gospel to. Because these people are literally going to be able to feel the happiness I feel. Because I am going to provide them with experiences that help them feel the spirit, and this spirit makes me and will make them feel happy. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to be a missionary. I would like to encourage everyone who is reading this back at home to strive to have spiritual experiences often in your own lives. Bring God into your every day life and you will experience an increased level of happiness peace and joy. I love this gospel and I love my Savior Jesus Christ.
Love,
Elder Burris
