Also as most of you know last week was fast sunday. And the week before this week me and my companion did not have any investigators in church which was really sad. But this week we fasted and ´prayed for our investigators. That they would come to church. And this week we had 4 investigators who came to church. Which is super super good. And we got a new investigator who has family in the church named Brenda so we are going to be working with her which is super exciting as well.
My ward mission leader Francisco gave me and my companion a referance to visit a man named Josue Antonio and he is a really cool guy. The only thing is that he is waiting for God to tell him the church is true through a dream or something so we are having a bit of a hard time working with him. He is honestly just super content right now with where he is. The people here are super layed back. He has a little banana farm and just works on that and is happy. Life here for the people is a lot more simple than the life we live in the states.
So yesterday I had a pretty funny experience. Here it is completely normal for people to pee really anywhere outdoors. So I was waiting for a bus to take me home and I turn around and this guy is just peeing like right off the side of the road. It was super funny. then after me and my companion gave him a picture of the temple and he seemed to like it. then he shook our hands and ran into the bus with us and it was just a super cool funny experience.
Something the mission is really teaching me is how critical it is to serve. And how much service really helps us. I can feel myself growing so much as a person because I am serving. Service helps others and we all know that but sometimes I think we forget or do not realize how much service benefits us. When we serve others, God blesses us and we become stronger, happier, and more like Christ. take Christs life for example. All he ever did was for others. He served and set the example that we need to follow and after he did that, he performed the atonement for OUR sins. He literally only did the will of the Father through serving others. He gave everything and kept nothing for himself and that is why he has everything. I know that the more we give to God through keeping his commandments and serving others the more he is going to give to us and bless us.
I want to thank everyone for the prayers and support. Especially my family. I also want to say that I know others like getting these letters, but I also like hearing from you. So if some of you have a minute or two to write me a quick email I would love to hear from you and see how you are doing. Also all of you can expect some cool pictures for next week!
Love,
Elder Burris
